Heavy snow and local blowing snow likely Sunday night into Monday.

Snow is forecast to arrive across southern Ontario Sunday night. Snow will spread rapidly northeastward through the day Monday.

The snow will fall heavily at times with snowfall rates of a few centimeters per hour possible. Travel will likely be difficult due to the expected heavy snow.

Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are expected, however, locally higher amounts cannot be ruled out. Some uncertainty remains in exact amounts, as this region lies on the western edge of the area expected to receive snow.

In addition, northwesterly winds gusting up to 50 km/h will result in areas of poor visibility due to local blowing snow Monday afternoon.

Conditions are forecast to improve by Monday evening as the snow comes to an end.

The time frame of the storm will depend on each region, in general the snow begins at 10pm on Sunday January 15th and ends at 2pm on Monday January 16th

Snowfall accumulations from 10pm Sunday to 4am Monday will be approximately 4cm and enough to start plowing.

The heaviest snow will fall between 4am and 7am on Monday with as much as 7cm falling in this short time.

Our plans for this storm are that once there is enough snow to plow we will be out with a First plow run starting at 4am Monday with an initial plow through to keep things open, expecting to be completed by Monday noon.

Followed by a second plow run Monday at noon likely going into the dinner hour, as the storm tapers off a salt run will be performed to help combat any slippery areas that may arise as the temperatures are remaining below freezing throughout the day.

Later Monday night into Tuesday morning we will continue to see flurries and we will be out performing touch up plow and touch up salt runs, expected completion by 7am Tuesday morning.

Please expect our service to be within our contract timelines, we’ll do our best to be ahead of them. Understand that with the timeline of this storm and the heaviest snow falling at 4:00AM into the early morning hours, we will be plowing through this timeline and will not necessarily be at your property first thing. There could be as much as 12-15cm on your property before we get there.

Tuesday night we will see another system into Wednesday morning that could bring us another 5-8cm of snow.

We have a lot of snow coming this week, we will be out plowing and cleaning up behind each event.

Looks like our first big storm of the year is here, Be safe out there everyone.

Thank you for your patience,
