Storm Watch and Site Servicing January 23, 2024 Update

Snow

On Time

The Paramount Service teams throughout Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Waterdown deployed for a full plow service as of 4pm on January 23, 2024.  As of 2pm all sites were at the cusp of 5cm of snow accumulation and all teams have started to be called in for servicing.  We started with a plow service to tidy up all properties that are seniors homes and condominiums and once rush hour is over we will start into the commercial and industrial properties, once all properties have been plowed we will have the residential properties serviced as well before a full salt service run will begin.  All sites have seen close to 5cm of snow with temperatures starting to rise above freezing and changing from snow to mixed precipitation  Forecast is still calling snow and scattered flurries until 8pm before changing to mixed precipitation until 4am on January 24th, 2024 with still a potential of 5cm of snow to fall.  Throughout this duration of storm we received anywhere from a trace of snowfall to 1-2cm of snow accumulation.  Higher elevations ( Waterdown / Milton ) saw closer to 6-8cm of snowfall throughout this system.  Temperatures for the duration of this storm are above freezing and climbing to but did not get to the 3°C that was forecasted.  We sat close to 1°C, all plowing was completed as of 9pm and a salt service run commencing thereafter of all properties.  Residential properties will be serviced as we have hit the 5cm threshold.   All teams completed their routes as of 1am on January 24, 2024.  All teams have been sent home for a mandatory rest period, during this time our snow management teams will continue to monitor the weather as well sites as there is a potential for freezing drizzle.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.

** UPDATE – As of 2am on January 24, 2024 we started receiving reports that sites throughout these regions were icing over.  This was due to the freezing drizzle and mist that these regions were seeing.  We called all teams in for a secondary salt service run of all properties as of 4am on January 24, 2024.  With the mist it created a ice form on all properties, this salt run is being completed to help combat the slippery areas.  All sites will be receiving a secondary salt run due to the freezing rain that was received at the end of the storm that started on January 23, 2024.  Currently as of 4am our Salt Trucks have been called out to perform services and our shovel crew teams remain on standby.  **
