The Paramount Service teams throughout Oshawa and Ajax will be starting a full salt service run as of 2pm on March 22, 2024. Our snow management teams have been monitoring this weather system that was forecasted to begin around 8am. We started seeing scattered flurries around 10am within all regions which have slowly tapered off but all sites are now damp due to the snow that fell, we have decided to perform a salt service run as the temperatures are below freezing sitting around -2°C. This salt run is being performed to help combat any slippery areas from arising as well to help combat the snow that is still in the forecast for this evening and into the early morning of March 23, 2024. We are still forecasted to see close to 10cm of snowfall until 4am on March 23rd, 2024. Forecast is calling that around 3pm to potentially see heavier snow around 1cm per hour until 2am, then changing to scattered flurries until 4am on March 23, 2024. Temperatures during this weather episode are forecasted to be hovering around -1° to -2°C. We have an estimated completion time of this salt service run as of 7pm on March 22, 2024. Once this service run is complete, all teams will be sent home for a rest period but will remain on call until the snow management teams have decided the plan of attack for the remainder of this storm.
