The Paramount Service teams throughout Fort Erie are under a special weather statement from Environment Canada as of 6:24am on November 17:
Snow Squall Watch
Conditions are favourable for a prolonged period of significant lake effect snow squalls off of Lake Erie tonight through this weekend. Extremely dangerous travel is expected within these snow squalls.
Hazards:
Local snowfall accumulations of 30 to 60 cm by Sunday morning. Higher amounts are possible in the most persistent snow squalls.
Visibilities may be reduced to near zero in heavy snow and local blowing snow.
Timing:
Tonight through early Sunday morning. Snow squalls may drift south of the area for a time on Friday before lifting back north Friday night into Saturday.
Discussion:
An intense snow squall is expected to develop over Lake Erie tonight and may impact parts of southern Niagara through Friday morning, and again Friday night into Saturday. At this time, the highest accumulations are most likely in the Fort Erie area.
Our teams are gearing up for this large storm that is forecasted from November 17, 2022 to begin around 7pm and go straight through until Sunday Morning November 20th, 2022 around noon ending with some light flurries. We will continue to monitor and will be servicing this region with multiple visits throughout the storm that is spanning over 2+ days. Our teams will do their best to stay on top of this system but potential road closures and dangerous conditions may impeded service levels. Once the storm has completed we will be back on sites to perform a salt service run for safety measures. Please be careful on the roads, remain safe and if you do not have to travel please stay at home. Please be patient with our teams as we are facing a large amount of snow during this time. Please check back to this site for future updates as we will be updating as this system goes through with service levels as well updates to the weather forecast.
