Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a weather system that moved through all regions of the GTA overnight and into the morning hours of December 31. Streamers were observed across the region, resulting in snowfall accumulations ranging from approximately 1 to 2 cm in isolated areas. Additional snowfall is forecasted throughout the evening of December 31 and into the morning hours of January 1, 2026, with expected accumulations of approximately 1 to 3 cm.
At this time, due to the ongoing salt shortage across Southern Ontario, servicing of the current trace snowfall amounts is being held until later this evening, when additional weather is forecasted. This approach allows for more effective use of limited salt resources while maintaining site safety.
Snow Management teams remain on standby and will deploy as required this evening based on real-time conditions and forecasted snowfall. Salt depots will remain closed during the daytime hours today but are scheduled to open in preparation for tonight’s weather event.
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of materials.
Our teams remain on standby and will deploy as we continue to monitor and as the weather changes.
