Paramount Snow Management Teams had been monitoring the snow squalls that moved through multiple regions beginning around 10:00 AM on January 2, resulting in snowfall accumulations ranging from a trace up to approximately 2 cm, with Hamilton reporting 1 to 3 cm depending on location. Snowfall tapered off around 4:00 PM, with intermittent flurries continuing afterward. A salt service run was required to help combat the snow that fell and to reduce the risk of slippery conditions as temperatures remained well below freezing. Overnight temperatures are forecasted to range between –6°C and –8°C.
Paramount teams began a salt service run at 10:00 PM across Burlington, Waterdown, and Hamilton. Deployment timing was based on site condition reports, weather monitoring, and the need to secure salt material before service due to current supply constraints. Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
Salt service in progress. All routes are estimated to be completed by approximately 3:00 AM on January 3,
All other regions were checked as of 8pm on January 2 and no servicing is required at this time. We will continue to monitor the weather and sites.
