Weather Monitoring & Service Run January 10, 2026

2

Partly Cloudy

On Time

Paramount Snow Management teams monitored a weather system impacting the GTA beginning around 3:00 PM on January 10, 2026, continuing into the evening hours and tapering off around 10:00 PM. Most regions across the GTA experienced rain throughout the afternoon, with temperatures remaining above freezing. Some areas received mixed precipitation, with a chance of less than 1 cm of snow accumulation.

As temperatures were forecasted to hover around freezing until approximately 3:00 AM on January 11, a proactive salt service run was required to help combat any slippery conditions that may arise as temperatures begin to dip below freezing following the precipitation received.

All Snow Management teams were deployed across the GTA beginning at 11:00 PM to perform a full salt service run based on observed site conditions and overnight temperature forecasts.  Salt service deployment underway.   All routes are estimated to be completed by approximately 4:00 AM on January 11, 2026.

SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
