Paramount Snow Management teams encountered mechanical issues with select trucks and salters, which has resulted in service delays within certain areas, particularly Toronto. Despite these challenges, teams completed two full plow passes at all properties and are performing additional site tidy-up while continuing service operations.
Once all sites were plowed twice, teams commenced a full salt service run to help combat potential slippery conditions. Please note that salt effectiveness is reduced when temperatures fall below –7°C. Current temperatures across the GTA are ranging between –10°C and –13°C, which may impact how quickly results are observed following salt application. On the rise for January 16 but still below freezing. Crews are applying material strategically based on conditions and safety considerations. Due to mechanical delays in Toronto, some salt applications may occur later than anticipated. Teams remain actively deployed, continuing to tidy sites and will proceed with salting once plowing requirements are fully met. As of Thursday night, we’ve completed most of our initial runs across all properties. Given the significant snowfall—about 25 centimeters in many areas—we’ve got quite a few snow piles that have formed. We understand this may cause some inconveniences, and we’re planning to handle relocation and reallocation of these piles over the weekend. If you need specific areas addressed, please let us know through email at snowline@paramountlandscaping.ca.
We want to inform you that our crews will be taking Friday off to rest. They’ve been working for over 30 hours straight to keep everything clear, and we need them to be well-rested for the next round of weather. We’ll resume operations over the weekend to address any remaining issues. We’ve salted all areas overnight, but given that temperatures are currently between minus 11 and minus 13 degrees Celsius, salt effectiveness is limited. It won’t fully melt everything until temperatures rise closer to zero, which we expect by Saturday morning.
Also, we want to emphasize that there is still a salt shortage in the region. We’re doing our best to use our salt supply efficiently, and we can’t apply more than necessary because we need to ensure we have enough for the upcoming weather. Normally, we’d use treated salt for these lower temperatures, but due to the shortage, that’s not an option. This means the salt we’ve applied will take longer to work, especially without treated salt to help speed up the melting process. By 5am on January 16, 2026 our teams completed the full salt service run after the two plow services were completed on January 15, 2026.
