On Time
Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a weather system that began during the evening hours of January 18, 2026. Snowfall occurred across all regions beginning during the evening hours of January 18, with accumulations ranging from approximately 1 to 3 cm. Forecasts indicate snowfall tapering off in most regions around 3:00 AM, with scattered flurries continuing throughout the day on January 19. A salt service run is being performed to help combat the snow that has fallen and to address any slippery areas that may arise as flurries continue.
Temperatures throughout this weather event remain well below freezing, ranging between –7°C and –9°C. At temperatures below –7°C, standard white salt begins to lose effectiveness, which may impact how quickly surfaces respond following application. Salt is being applied strategically based on conditions and safety requirements. Teams were called in and deployed across the GTA beginning at 3:00 AM to perform a full salt service run based on overnight snowfall, temperature conditions, and forecasted impacts.
SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and application methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
All routes are estimated to be completed by approximately 8:00 AM on January 19, 2026.
