Snow

On Time

Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a weather system impacting the GTA throughout January 21, 2026. Snow began falling around 11:00 AM, with early reports indicating accumulations ranging from a trace up to approximately 1 cm across many regions.  Forecasts indicate that areas such as Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Oshawa, and Ajax may receive 5–10 cm of snowfall throughout this weather event, while central GTA regions are forecasted to receive an additional 2–3 cm as the system continues.

A salt service run is being performed to help combat the snow that has fallen, address additional snowfall forecasted, and reduce the risk of slippery conditions. Temperatures remain below freezing, sitting between –4°C and –5°C across the GTA.  Our teams were called in and deployed beginning at 2:00 PM to perform salt service routes across all regions. Due to this being a daytime snowfall event, crews may experience traffic-related delays while completing routes.

SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and application methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.

Salt service deployment is underway.  All routes are estimated to be completed by approximately 6:00 PM on January 21, 2026, subject to traffic and changing conditions.
