Weather Monitoring & Service Update January 23, 2026

Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring conditions across all remaining regions throughout January 23, 2026. Some areas experienced intermittent flurries during the day; however, accumulations have remained minimal at this time.  Due to the ongoing salt shortage, teams continue to experience challenges securing salt supplies across many regions. As a result, no service has been deployed outside of Mississauga at this time.

SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage, and Paramount Landscaping Inc. is among many contractors across the GTA facing limited material availability. Salt supplies remain constrained, and service deployment will be adjusted as materials become available.

All teams remain on standby and will deploy if conditions change and material availability allows.

Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a snow streamer that moved through Mississauga during the evening hours of January 23, 2026. Reports from site checks confirmed snowfall accumulations ranging from approximately 1 to 2 cm throughout the city.  Temperatures are extremely cold, sitting around –16°C.  At temperatures below –7°C, standard white salt begins to lose effectiveness; however, a salt service run is being performed to help combat slippery conditions and improve traction where possible.  At this time, teams within Mississauga were able to secure salt specifically for this service run.

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. Paramount Landscaping Inc., along with many other contractors across the GTA, is experiencing limited access to salt supplies. Salt availability remains region-specific and service levels are adjusted accordingly.
