MAJOR WINTER STORM UPDATE — January 25, 2026 (Midnight Update)

As of 12:00 AM, snowfall totals across the Greater Toronto Area have reached approximately 30–45 cm, and snow is still actively falling across all regions. This storm has now become one of the largest snowfall events the GTA has experienced in years.

Schools across the GTA have been closed due to the severity of conditions.

Paramount Snow Management teams have been working continuously since 1:00 PM on January 25, and crews have been operating tirelessly through extreme conditions. As of midnight, teams have nearly completed the first round of plowing across service routes and are beginning to transition into second plow passes.

Temperatures throughout the GTA are well below freezing, sitting around –13°C, making this an extremely cold and challenging night, particularly for our sidewalk and shovel crews who are working on foot in exposed conditions.

Due to the volume of snow, ongoing accumulation, and unavoidable challenges encountered throughout the night — including truck and equipment breakdowns, machinery issues, and staff fatigue — it is not expected that second-round plowing will be fully completed before the early morning hours.

At this time, we are hoping to complete second-round plowing by approximately 10:00 AM, at which point teams will begin transitioning into salt service runs and site tidy-up, subject to conditions and material availability.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

If you have the ability to stay home, we strongly encourage you to do so. Road conditions across the GTA are extremely hazardous. In many areas, city plows have not yet been able to clear roads, and we anticipate that many businesses will remain closed due to unsafe travel conditions.

Simply put — the roads are a disaster.

We ask for patience and understanding for municipal road crews and commercial snow operators alike, as everyone is battling through an unprecedented, large-scale storm event. Crews across the region are working as safely and efficiently as possible under extraordinarily difficult conditions.

All Paramount Snow Management teams remain actively deployed, and further updates will be provided as conditions evolve.
