Rain

On Time

Snow management teams will be monitoring all sites and weather conditions throughout the overnight and early morning hours of March 26 into March 27, 2026.  Throughout the day on March 26, the GTA experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. With temperatures forecast to drop rapidly below freezing overnight, there is an increased risk of refreezing and icy conditions across all regions once surfaces freeze.

Regional Weather Overview

Burlington, Oakville, Milton & Waterdown

  • Current Temperature: 8°C
  • Forecast: Dropping to 0°C by 3:00 AM, with a low of –4°C by 7:00 AM
  • Precipitation: Rain ending around 10:00 PM while temperatures remain above freezing

Salt Supply Update — Southern Ontario

Southern Ontario continues to face an ongoing regional salt shortage due to prolonged winter conditions, repeated weather events, and continued supply chain challenges.

Current conditions include:

  • Limited and inconsistent supply across all major depots
  • Frequent inventory depletion, often without notice
  • Restricted allocation limits are placed on contractors
  • Municipal priority access continues to impact private sector availability

Salt is becoming increasingly difficult to secure, particularly during overnight operations when depots may be closed or operating with reduced availability.

Paramount Snow Management continues to actively source material from multiple suppliers; however:

  • Availability cannot be guaranteed at all times
  • Salt applications are being strategically timed and deployed
  • Material is being used as efficiently as possible to maximize effectiveness

Our teams will continue to monitor all regions closely and respond as required.
