Weather Monitoring & Service Run Anticipation February 24, 2026

-4

Partly Cloudy

On Time

Paramount Snow Management teams are closely monitoring the next weather system forecasted to move through the GTA during the overnight hours of February 24 into the early morning of February 25.

Current forecasts indicate snowfall beginning around 9:00–10:00 PM on February 24, continuing until approximately 3:00–4:00 AM on February 25.

Across the GTA, we are expecting 2–4 cm of snowfall, with areas north of the 401 corridor potentially receiving 5–6 cm, depending on localized bands and drifting. This system is currently being referred to as an Alberta Clipper, which can shift quickly and produce varying snowfall totals region to region.

At this time, our teams are on standby and are reviewing forecast models closely. We are anticipating a 1:00 AM deployment across all properties throughout the GTA; however, final decisions will be made as we assess real-time conditions.

Temperature Outlook

Temperatures are forecasted to remain below freezing at the onset of this system. Across most regions, temperatures are expected to rise slightly to 0°C to +1°C around 9:00 AM on February 25, with scattered flurries possible throughout the day before dipping below freezing again overnight.

These fluctuating temperatures may increase the potential for compacted snow and slippery surfaces, particularly if precipitation transitions or lingers into early morning hours.

Salt Supply Update — Southern Ontario

Southern Ontario continues to experience a significant regional salt shortage due to sustained winter demand, repeated weather events, and ongoing supply chain constraints. Municipalities continue to receive priority allocation, which has further tightened availability for private contractors across the GTA.

Salt depot inventories remain:

  • Limited and inconsistent

  • Frequently depleted without notice

  • Subject to daily allocation limits

  • Increasingly difficult to access during overnight hours

Many suppliers are either running extremely low on product or temporarily out of inventory. In several instances, contractors are required to travel outside their local regions to secure supply. Product availability is fluctuating daily, and access cannot be guaranteed.

Our snow management teams are working diligently and proactively to secure salt from multiple suppliers across Southern Ontario. However, it is becoming progressively more difficult to obtain material as overall inventory levels continue to decline.

Due to these constraints:

  • Salt applications must be strategically timed

  • Material must be used responsibly and efficiently

  • Access to product may impact deployment timing

We appreciate your continued understanding as we navigate these ongoing supply challenges while prioritizing the safety of all properties.

We will provide a further update once the final plan of attack has been confirmed for this weather event.

Salt Supply Update

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and ongoing supply chain constraints. Municipalities continue to receive priority allocation, and supplier inventories across the GTA remain limited and inconsistent.

We are finding it increasingly difficult to secure product. Several suppliers are running out of salt, and depot inventories fluctuate daily. Availability cannot be guaranteed, and in some cases, material access is extremely limited.

Our teams are working diligently and around the clock to secure supply wherever possible in order to maintain service levels and prioritize safety across all properties. Salt is becoming increasingly scarce across Southern Ontario, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these ongoing challenges.

Our snow management teams remain on standby and will continue monitoring conditions throughout the day, as there remains a chance for scattered flurries on February 23. We are also monitoring another weather system forecasted for February 24.
