Partly Cloudy
On Time
Paramount Snow Management teams completed a full salt service run across the GTA during the early morning hours of February 10, 2026, following a weather system that began in most regions around 3:00 AM. Forecasts were calling for approximately 1–2 cm of snowfall, with higher accumulations north of the 401 corridor (including Oshawa, Ajax, and Scarborough) where totals reached 2–4 cm, and in some areas higher due to blowing snow. Temperatures at the start of the service run were well below freezing, and salt service was performed to help combat the snow that fell and to reduce the risk of slippery conditions forming as temperatures remained cold.
Regional Service Completion Details
Burlington, Oakville, Milton & Waterdown
Teams deployed as of 4:00 AM on February 10. These regions received a trace to approximately 1 cm of snowfall between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Temperatures were near –7°C, rising to a high of approximately 2°C before dropping back below freezing overnight. Light flurries (<1 cm) remain possible.
Service completion: 8:00 AM on February 10, 2026.
Temperature & Salt Effectiveness
Please note that at temperatures below –7°C, standard white salt begins to lose effectiveness, which may impact how quickly treated surfaces respond. Salt applications were completed strategically based on site conditions and safety considerations.
Salt Supply Update
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Landscaping Inc. continues to secure materials as they become available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and application levels may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
Status
All teams remain on standby should further servicing be required.
