Weather Monitoring & Servicing February 6, 2026

Snow

On Time

Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a weather system that began affecting the GTA around 2:00 AM on February 6, 2026. Forecasts called for approximately 1 to 3 cm of snowfall across all regions, with the system expected to taper off by approximately 9:00 AM.  Reports from our field teams indicate that most regions have received 1 to 2 cm of snowfall, with slightly higher accumulations in elevated areas.

Service Deployment

Snow Management teams have been called in to perform a full salt service run across all properties. This salt application is being performed to help combat the snow that has fallen, as well as the additional flurries forecasted to continue through the afternoon hours.  Teams are deploying earlier in the day due to temperatures forecasted to drop significantly overnight, reaching well below freezing with lows near –20°C. The salt service run is intended to help reduce the risk of slippery areas forming as temperatures fall.

Temperature & Salt Effectiveness

Temperatures throughout this event are expected to remain below freezing. Please note that at temperatures below –7°C, standard white salt begins to lose effectiveness, which may impact how quickly treated surfaces respond. Salt is being applied strategically based on observed conditions and safety requirements.

Salt Supply Update

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Landscaping Inc. continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, application methods and service timing may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.

Estimated Completion

The anticipated completion time for this salt service run is approximately 2:00 PM on February 6, 2026. Please note that some delays may occur due to daytime traffic conditions; however, all teams remain deployed and will service all properties.
