Partly Cloudy

On Time

The Paramount Service teams in Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Waterdown started a salt service run as of 3 am on January 20, 2025.  All management staff were monitoring all sites and the streamers that were coming through these areas during the early morning hours of January 20 and we had seen anywhere from a trace to a dusting of snowfall throughout.  The salt service run was performed to help combat the snow that had fallen as well as any potential threats of snow squalls that may happen.  Please note, with the frigid temperatures salt loses its effectiveness after -7°C so our teams are using Treated Salt but this can take time to react due to the temperatures sitting around -11°C.  Temperatures throughout the evening and over the next few days this week are currently settling in what is being called the Polar Vortex.  Temperatures are well below seasonal temperatures sitting around -7 with a low of -11 by 7 am on January 20 feeling like -21 with the windchill.  ** UPDATE – As of 5 am on January 20 our salt supplier ran out of Treated Salt, our teams continued performing the service run with the regular salt.  As mentioned, regular road salt loses its” effectiveness after -7°C and can take longer to react.  All teams completed their salt service runs at 7 am on January 20, 2025.  All teams remain on standby should further servicing be required.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates as our teams will continue to monitor.

Light Snow

On Time

The Paramount Service teams throughout Hamilton, Stoney Creek, and Brantford completed servicing within the Stoney Creek and Mountain areas on January 19, 2025.  These areas received close to 5cm of snowfall or more so they received a plow service followed by a salt service run on January 19.  This run was to help combat the snow that had fallen as we had seen some lake effect snowfall throughout these regions hit in the afternoon hours of January 19.  Our teams will remain on standby should further servicing be required throughout the rest of day as there is a potential for furhter snow squalls to come through these areas.  Temperatures during the afteroon remained well below freezing so our teams used treated salt on these properties as regular white salt loses it’s effectiveness past -7°C and temperatures were sitting close to -10°C.  All teams completed their runs but remain on standby.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.
