The Paramount Service teams throughout Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge teams were monitoring a system forecasted across the GTA on January 10, 2025. All areas started seeing some scattered flurries beginning around 5 pm and were forecasted to go through to the early morning hours of January 11, 2025. Throughout these regions, they received close to a trace to a centimeter of snowfall. Temperatures during this episode remain below freezing sitting around -3°C with a low of -4°C by early morning. Our teams deployed for a salt service run as of 6 pm on January 10, 2025. This service run was performed to help combat the snow that fell during the dinner time hours as well the scattered flurries throughout the remainder of the evening and to combat any slippery areas that may arise. Our teams within these regions completed their service runs as of 11 pm on January 10, 2025. We will be starting another salt service run as of 3 am on January 11, 2025. This service run is to help combat the snow that continued to fall during the early morning hours of January 11, 2025 as we started to see snow taper off around 1 am. This secondary salt service run is being performed not only to combat the snow that fell as well to combat the continued scattered flurries into the early morning hours. Temperatures still remain below freezing sitting around -5°C with a high of -4°C during the morning hours, so this service run will help to combat any slippery areas that may arise. Residential properties within these regions did not receive servicing as we did not hit the 5 cm threshold of snowfall during this weather episode.
