On Time

The Paramount Service teams throughout Hamilton, Stoney Creek, and Brantford teams started a secondary salt run as of 2 pm on December 20, 2024.  Throughout the morning of December 20 we had been seeing some scattered flurries throughout all regions as the storm that started on December 19 started to taper off.  We received anywhere from a trace to a centimeter in most regions across the GTA in the afternoon.  Our teams are performing this salt service run to help combat the snow that not only fell after the salt run that was completed early morning on December 20 but also throughout the morning and into early afternoon of December 20, 2024, as well to combat any slippery areas that may arise due to the temperatures remaining below freezing.  We are forecasted to see possibly still less than a centimeter of snowfall between 6 pm and 10 pm on December 20, 2024.  Our teams completed their runs as of 7 pm on December 20, 2024.  Temperatures during the evening hours of December 20 and into the 21st of December are forecasted to be very cold sitting around -4°C with a low of -8°C with windchill making it feel like it’s -16°C.  Our teams will remain on standby should further servicing be required and our snow management team will continue to monitor due to the temperatures dropping quite drastically there is a potential for an early morning salt run.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.

** UPDATE – As of 5 pm on December 20, 2024, our teams within Ancaster, Upper Mountain as well properties around Upper James St in Hamilton required a full plow service as they had seen closer to 5 to 8 cm of snowfall with slushy areas all over the properties.  The teams are servicing accordingly with a full plow service to clean up the properties, followed by a salt run.  This is to assist with the snow that has fallen and continued to fall throughout the afternoon into the early evening hours as well as assist with any slippery areas that may arise due to the temperatures being well below freezing.

** UPDATE – As of 11 pm on December 20, 2024, reports from our teams within Hamilton and Stoney Creek are that the properties within these areas have turned icy.  With the temperatures sitting around -7°C regular road salt can lose its effectiveness to help combat the slippery areas that are arising due to the frigid temperatures and the snow/slush that are on the sites within these regions.  Our teams are performing another salt run this evening to help combat the slippery areas from the snow that has fallen throughout the system that came through earlier in the overnight hours of December 19 to 20th.  Our teams will be performing tidy-up while on site, cleaning up any slushy areas from the snow earlier in the day.
