Weather Monitoring & Service Run Completion February 23, 2026

Paramount Snow Management teams monitored a weather system during the early morning hours of February 23 across the GTA. With reports of slippery areas and snow-covered surfaces across multiple regions, our teams initiated a full salt service run beginning at 4:00 AM for most areas.

Temperatures remained below freezing, with a daytime high near 0°C before dipping back below freezing in the evening. Due to these conditions, all teams were deployed to help combat the snow that had fallen and reduce the risk of slippery conditions across all properties.

Regional Service Details

Hamilton, Stoney Creek & Brantford

Hamilton and Stoney Creek began servicing at 1:00 AM due to earlier snowfall. Brantford was serviced earlier in the evening as snowfall developed sooner in that region.

Accumulations ranged from 1–2 cm. Salt was applied to help combat snowfall and prevent slippery conditions.

Completion: 6:00 AM

Salt Supply Update

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and ongoing supply chain constraints. Municipalities continue to receive priority allocation, and supplier inventories across the GTA remain limited and inconsistent.

We are finding it increasingly difficult to secure product. Several suppliers are running out of salt, and depot inventories fluctuate daily. Availability cannot be guaranteed, and in some cases, material access is extremely limited.

Our teams are working diligently and around the clock to secure supply wherever possible in order to maintain service levels and prioritize safety across all properties. Salt is becoming increasingly scarce across Southern Ontario, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate these ongoing challenges.

Our snow management teams remain on standby and will continue monitoring conditions throughout the day, as there remains a chance for scattered flurries on February 23. We are also monitoring another weather system forecasted for February 24.

Guelph began salting at 4:00 AM due to 1–2 cm of snowfall.

Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge required a full plow service followed by salting due to heavier snowfall and blowing/drifting snow, consistent with the previously issued Environment Canada Special Weather Statement. Accumulations ranged from 1–2 cm on some sites to upwards of 10 cm in others due to drifting.

All required sites were plowed and salted.

Completion:

• Guelph: 8:30 AM

• Kitchener, Waterloo & Cambridge: 9:00 AM
