On Time

Service Deployment & Weather Monitoring

Paramount Snow Management teams monitored all regions throughout the overnight hours of February 21 into the early morning of February 22.  This weather system impacted regions differently across the GTA. Some areas experienced freezing rain mixed with snow, while others saw only scattered flurries.

  • North of the 401 Corridor: Mix of snow and freezing rain overnight.

  • Below the 401 Corridor: Scattered flurries beginning around 5:00 AM.

Due to varying accumulations and fluctuating temperatures, multiple regions required salt service runs.

Regional Service Updates

Burlington, Oakville, Milton & Waterdown

Teams were called in for a salt service run beginning at 11:00 AM on February 22.

Accumulations ranged from a trace up to 2 cm. Salt is being applied to combat the snowfall received, address scattered flurries forecasted throughout the day, and prevent slippery conditions as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing overnight.  Temperatures remain above freezing sitting around 2 and 1 degree with starting to dip below freezing around 11pm to -1.

Salt Supply Update

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and ongoing supply chain constraints, with municipalities being prioritized.

Product availability remains limited and inconsistent across all regions. Paramount Snow Management continues working diligently to secure salt supplies; however, availability is becoming increasingly scarce across the GTA and surrounding regions. Depot inventories fluctuate daily, and access to material cannot always be guaranteed.

Salt applications are being deployed strategically and responsibly to ensure the most effective use of available material while prioritizing safety.

Our Snow Management teams are actively working with suppliers across all regions, but securing material is becoming progressively more difficult.
