Service Completion Update

Paramount Snow Management teams completed service operations across the GTA following a weather system that began around 2:00 AM on February 6, 2026.  Teams started a full salt service run as of 9:00 AM across all regions after snowfall accumulations were observed throughout the early morning hours. Sites across the GTA received approximately 1 to 3 cm of snowfall, depending on the region. Snow began tapering off around 9:00 AM, with scattered flurries continuing on and off throughout the day.

Reason for Service

Teams were deployed to help combat the overnight snowfall and the additional flurries forecast for February 6. The service run was also completed to reduce the risk of slippery areas forming as temperatures continued to fall.

Temperature & Salt Effectiveness

Temperatures throughout this event remained below freezing, with overnight lows forecasted to reach near –20°C. Please note that at temperatures below –7°C, standard white salt begins to lose effectiveness, which may impact how quickly treated surfaces respond. Salt was applied strategically based on observed conditions and safety requirements.

Salt Supply Update

Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Landscaping Inc. continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, application methods and service timing may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.

Completion Status

All service routes were completed by approximately 5:00 PM on February 6, 2026. Completion timing was extended due to daytime traffic conditions; however, teams worked through all regions in a timely and safe manner.  Teams remain on standby should further servicing be required, as Snow Management continues to monitor ongoing blowing snow advisories.
