Partly Cloudy
On Time
Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring ongoing flurries throughout the day on January 22, 2026. Reports across these regions indicate snowfall accumulations ranging from approximately 1 to 3 cm. Temperatures remain well below freezing, ranging between –7°C and –10°C, with overnight lows forecasted to reach approximately –15°C. These cold temperatures increase the risk of icy conditions and also impact the effectiveness of salt.
SERVICE STRATEGY & SALT AVAILABILITY:
Due to the ongoing salt shortage across Southern Ontario, Paramount Landscaping Inc., along with many other contractors across the GTA, is experiencing extremely limited access to salt supplies. At this time:
-
Kitchener, Guelph, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Brantford will receive plow service only, as salt is not available for these regions.
-
Hamilton and Stoney Creek are receiving full plow and salt services, as salt was able to be secured for these areas.
Salt application is being prioritized where material is available and where safety conditions require immediate treatment.
STATUS:
Teams in regions not being serviced remain on standby and will continue monitoring site conditions. Service levels will be adjusted as material availability and weather conditions change.
SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. In some cases, service timing and application methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
