Rain
On Time
Paramount Snow Management teams have been monitoring a weather system impacting the GTA throughout the day on January 6, 2026. Temperatures across the GTA ranged between 0°C and 2°C, with most areas experiencing rain and mixed precipitation, including periods of freezing rain in some regions. Areas north of the 401 corridor reported snowfall accumulations ranging from a trace up to approximately 3 cm. Due to the presence of freezing rain in certain areas and the potential for slippery conditions as temperatures fluctuate overnight, a proactive salt service run is being performed to help combat icy conditions and maintain safe access across properties.
ROUTE DEPLOYMENT UPDATE:
All Snow Management teams are being deployed across the GTA beginning at 11:00 PM to perform a salt service run. Deployment timing is based on real-time monitoring, regional condition reports, and forecasted overnight impacts.
SERVICE NOTES – SALT SUPPLY UPDATE:
Southern Ontario continues to experience a province-wide salt shortage due to increased winter demand and supply chain disruptions, with municipalities being prioritized. As a result, salt availability for private contractors remains limited. Paramount Snow Management continues to secure material as it becomes available and deploys services strategically to prioritize safety. In some cases, service timing and methods may be adjusted to ensure the most effective and responsible use of available materials.
STATUS:
Salt service deployment underway. All routes are estimated to be completed by approximately 5:00 AM on January 7, 2026.
Updates will be provided as the evening progresses.
