Site Servicing and Weather Monitoring January 19, 2025

The Paramount Service teams throughout Hamilton, Stoney Creek, and Brantford have been monitoring all areas throughout the GTA during the overnight hour of January 19 and into the morning of January 20, 2025.  Throughout all regions across the GTA, there is a threat for some lake effect snow which could bring nothing to some areas and anywhere from 5 – 10cm of snow in others.  Our teams are all on standby and snow management staff are monitoring the weather closely as this system has changed.  As of 8 pm on January 19, 2025, sites within these regions have not required any servicing.  Temperatures throughout the evening and over the next few days this week are currently settling in what is being called the Polar Vortex.  Temperatures are well below seasonal temperatures sitting around -6 with a low of -13 by 8 am on January 20 feeling like -22 with the windchill.  By morning throughout these regions, there is a potential to see less than a centimeter of snowfall between 2 am and 6 am.  All teams remain on standby for future weather.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.

** UPDATE – As of 10 pm our teams have reported some areas within Stoney Creek and the Mountain in Hamilton have to plow these areas.  These areas have been seeing more of the lake effect snowfall and have received 5 cm of snowfall.  Our teams are continuously monitoring and will be servicing sites with plowing followed by salting as required.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates as our teams continue to monitor this system that is coming through.

** UPDATE – As of 2 am all sites within Hamilton and Brantford have been checked and will continue to be monitored, at this time no servicing is required to be performed.  Our teams remain on standby should service levels require to be changed.

** UPDATE – As of 10 pm some reports are being provided that within Kitchener, Waterloo some flurries are beginning.  Our teams will continue to monitor but as of this time, no servicing is required.

** UPDATE  – As of 2 am our teams were called to deploy for a 3 am salt service run of all sites within Guelph.  We have received reports that there was another snow squall band that came through these areas and we have seen anywhere from a trace to a centimeter.  Our teams are performing a salt service run of all properties that are required throughout these regions, please note, with the frigid temperatures salt loses its effectiveness after -7°C so our teams are using Treated Salt but this can take time to react due to the temperatures sitting around -11°C.  Our teams are performing this salt service run to help combat the snow that has fallen as well as the snow that is potentially due to the lake effect snow that we have been seeing.  Our teams have an estimated completion of this salt service run as of 8 am on January 20, 2025.  No servicing has been required for Kitchener, Waterloo or Cambridge our teams remain on standby and will continue to monitor all properties within these regions.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.

** UPDATE – As of 10 pm our teams have reported within Markham and north of the 401 corridors our teams are outperforming a salt service run.  These service areas have seen a band of snow squalls come through and leave a trace of snowfall.  The salt service run is being performed to help combat the snow that fell as well as the potential for further squalls that may come through.  Our teams will continue to monitor and service all areas throughout these regions should the snow squalls come through.  Please check back to this site for future service level updates.
