Fleet & Equipment Manager – Carlisle, ON

Carlisle, ON

Hourly Wage: $43-48

Job description

Are you passionate about equipment management, hands-on engine diagnostics, and ensuring peak performance across a dynamic organization? Join the award-winning team at Paramount Landscaping Inc., a company recognized for excellence in landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor property maintenance. We are seeking a Fleet and Equipment Manager with a deep mechanical aptitude, capable of diagnosing engine problems manually, not just relying on computer systems. If you’re ready for a long-term career opportunity with a company that values innovation and operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you!

Your Role as Fleet and Equipment Manager

As the Fleet and Equipment Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining Paramount Landscaping’s fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment, ensuring all machinery is operational, safe, and ready for deployment. You’ll manage preventive maintenance schedules, track equipment data, reduce operational costs, and rely on both manual diagnostic skills and computer tools to identify and resolve engine and equipment issues.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Operations Oversight

  • Perform preventative maintenance and on-the-spot repairs for trucks, trailers, mowers, trimmers, plows, salters, and other landscaping equipment.
  • Manually diagnose engine and mechanical problems using expertise and experience, not just computer diagnostics.
  • Conduct daily fleet and equipment inspections to identify issues, log damages, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Monitor GPS systems in collaboration with the Office Manager to ensure tracking accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and inventory levels in fleet management software.
  • Communicate daily updates and critical issues to the Operations Manager.

Equipment & Fleet Maintenance

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet lifespan and reduce repair costs.
  • Track fuel usage patterns and implement strategies to reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with vendors for timely repairs and procurement of parts and supplies.
  • Monitor fleet budgets and expenditures to find cost-effective solutions for maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet provincial safety certification standards (CVOR).

Seasonal Operations

  • Spring: Prepare all trucks, trailers, and landscaping equipment for peak season operations, ensuring certifications and safety checks are completed.
  • Summer: Perform ongoing maintenance, including oil changes, brake repairs, and spark plug replacements, and prepare for fall cleanup operations.
  • Fall: Winterize summer equipment and ensure trucks, plows, and salters are fully prepared for snow operations.
  • Winter: Conduct winter vehicle maintenance, address emergency repairs, and provide occasional backup snow plow or salter services as needed.

Strategic Planning & Compliance

  • Optimize maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Ensure strict compliance with MTO regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Prepare fleet performance and expenditure reports for senior management.
  • Act as a liaison between operations and maintenance teams to prioritize urgent repairs.
